An ovarian cyst can be detected at any age
Talk about cyst and I get jitters all over. Till my pre pregnancy stage I had always known that a cyst is a pebble like structure, but it was only during those days when suddenly I realized that I was not conceiving and I feared that I might be suffering cyst on ovary. But thank god, that was not the reason, and my case was thyroid. Any way let’s not talk about me, and concentrate on cyst on ovary.
An ovarian cysts is not any solid material but rather it collection of fluid, surrounded by the ovary. Any follicle, within the ovaries when detected to be larger than about 2 cm, is termed as an ovarian cyst, thus as a whole the cyst on ovary looks somewhat like a small pea, and in some acute cases, it may be as large as that of a small raw orange. Many cysts on ovaries are known to be functional in nature though they are harmless.Cyst on ovary can be detected in the females of any age, mainly from the teens, but the worst hits are the ladies who have entered the menopause stage. They can also occur in a woman’s child bearing age.
Cyst in any form and in ay part opf the body is dangerous and when it occurs in the reproduction organs and that too in the ovary, sometimes it becomes fatal and causes life loss. There are some cysts on ovaries which causes problem like not only tremendous pain but also bleeding. Normally these ovarian cysts are larger in size, and needs immediate medical attention like surgery.
There are two types of cyst: the Functional and the Non- functional cyst which is best known as the pathological cyst, and the difference of the two are as follows:
- The Functional cyst : it is the most common type of the cyst, and is a harmless cyst, which sometimes forms within the female’s normal menstrual cycle period, and are extremely short lived. Sometimes, it comes out with the heavy flow.
- Pathological cyst: These are both harmless and cancerous – but the latter is more phenomenons. These cysts grow with in the ovaries.
Now let us understand the structure of a cyst in ovary through the innate medical and technical description. A cyst can be detected through an ultrasound, and it looks like a closed sac like structure, very similar in form and appearance like that of a blister. This sac like structure can contain any type of material, starting form liquid, gaseous or any semi solid materials too. Sometimes that are so tiny that the doctors have to wait for it to grow to a minimal stage, if opting for a surgery, or else immediate treatment and medicines start rolling inside the patient’s body, and sometimes that are so large that if not operated out, it can displace nay normal organs.
A cyst is never a normal part of a tissue though sometimes they are vey temporary and short lived. The human anatomy refers it as a bladder like sac which contains heinous materials which if bursts inside the body is fatal and life threatening.
